    The Practice

    Early Detection

    Early Detection

    Early Detection

By the time a person is diagnosed with parkinsonism, they've probably already had the disease for decades. The earlier we can intervene, the easier it is to improve outcomes over time. We've trained dogs to be able to detect the scent of parkinsonism in ear wax- this easy, inexpensive, and impressively accurate screening tool can give patients a head-start.

Courses, lectures, and trainings are part of the medicine. Knowledge truly is power. Information enables better communication between patients and providers, increasing the likelihood of  success.

    Patient-Centered Tracking

One of the most significant hurdles facing PD is the lack of a scale that allows patients to track their symptoms over time. Patients, researchers, and providers now have a tool.

    PRO-PD
Modifiable Lifestyle Variables Associated with Different Rat

What are the most successful people doing differently?

Success is defined by high quality of life and few patient-reported symptoms of PD.  We asked 2000 people with parkinsonism and asked them about their dis-ease and their lifestyle, Here, we describe the behaviors and choices associated with the fastest and slowest rate of PD progression.
